I am firmly committed, if elected, to serve no more than 12 years in Washington D.C. Our founding fathers were people who took time off from their lives to serve their country; it was never intended to be a career. This is critically important to me.


Responsible Health Care Reform

• Washington D.C. and individual state bureaucracies control nearly 60% of every health care dollar spent in America. Democrats continue to demand that more governmental involvement is required to reform the system. A larger, more intrusive government is not the answer to successful health care reform.
  
• We need to encourage real competition that strengthens family and individual purchasing power.
  
• We need to work with the marketplace to support and expand private plans that ensure portability and higher quality at a lower cost.
  
• Nowhere in the current bill is an inclusion of medical malpractice liability reform to reduce costs caused by the practice of defensive medicine. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons estimates that the average American family pays an additional $1,700 to $2,000 per year simply to cover the costs of defensive medicine. In this 2010 election cycle alone, trial lawyers have already given over $19 million to Democrats. You do the math on why there is no medical malpractice liability reform in Washington.

• Get government less involved in capital markets and bailouts. Let Small Business and Industry create new jobs.

• I support Tax Relief Legislation that makes our tax code simpler and fairer.

Realistic Energy Policy

• The recently House passed Cap & Trade bill is actually a large burden on the economy and will not deliver what has been promised.
• We must reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
• A strong Energy Policy is essential to national security and affordable energy for Kansans.
• The result will be less dependence on foreign oil, more jobs here in the U.S. and a cleaner environment.
